OWC MERCURY ELITE PRO QUAD 48TB RAID 5 FOUR-DRIVE:

Add 48TB of USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C storage to your compatible Windows or Mac system with the Mercury Elite Pro Quad 48TB 4-Bay USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C RAID Array (4 x 12TB) from OWC / Other World Computing. This array is preconfigured as RAID 5 via included SoftRAID XT software. 48TB also provides you with plenty of space to store files such as music, photos, movies, and documents. This array provides sequential compressible read speeds of up to 527 MB/s, sequential compressible write speeds of up to 695 MB/s, sequential incompressible read speeds of up to 513 MB/s, and sequential incompressible write speeds of up to 488 MB/s.

Within the array are four SATA III drive bays that can each house a single 3.5" or 2.5" drive using the included drive brackets. Each drive bay has a 12TB 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" hard drive, each of which has a 256MB cache, for a total system cache of 1TB. The array is software-configured as RAID 5, which provides a good balance of performance and redundancy. It can be configured as RAID 5, each of which provides performance, data redundancy, or both.

This volume will be recognized on systems running OS X 10.6 and later, as well as Windows 7 and later. Connectivity to your host system is achieved using an integrated 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, and both USB Type-C to Type-C and USB Type-C to Type-A cables are included to help ensure compatibility with modern and legacy systems. To help ensure a smooth operating environment, the array is built using heat-dissipating aluminum, uses a cooling fan, and its included 100-240 VAC power supply runs at 50/60 Hz to help ensure worldwide compatibility. Also included is a power cable and two front panel keys.

The Mercury Elite Pro Quad is compatible with Mac and Windows, but the included software RAID utility is only compatible with Mac. Windows users will need to purchase a RAID utility to take advantage of RAID on this device. Mac users may also purchase separate software if they have a preferred RAID utility. Most RAID software is compatible with this this enclosure, including Disk Utility (Mac), Disk Management (Windows), Storage Spaces (Windows), and more.
